The basic idea is to systematize the effects of tourism on the economic, political, demographic, social development by one multidisciplinary approach.<br><br>Having in mind that the World Tourism Day 2019 will be marked under the title&nbsp;<em>Tourism and Jobs: a better future for all</em>, that travel and tourism sector in 2017 accounted for 9.9% of global employment (over 313 million jobs), that in the last decade one out of five jobs created worldwide is either directly or indirectly related to tourism, while nearly 100 million new tourism-related jobs could be created over the next decade, that reduction of unemployment rate is set as one of the key priorities of economic policy makers and governments around the world, the specific objective of the 4<sup>th</sup>International Scientific Conference is to consider the role and importance of tourism in generating new jobs, reducing the unemployment and increasing the living standard of the population of the Republic of Serbia and other countries.<br><br>In achieving aforementioned Conference objectives, we highly encourage contributions of tourismologists, economists, managers, lawyers, urban planners, sociologists, demographers, geographers, other eminent scientists from universities, institutes, colleges, including representatives of tourism organizations and local self-governments from Serbia and other countries. Organizer’s intention is to open debate on the role tourism plays in the economy of different countries, factors which influence tourism development, measures that need to be taken to adapt to those developments, challenges tourism industry is facing in the digital era, balance that needs to be made between the rights and obligations of the users and providers of tourism services in order to ensure competitiveness of business, etc. It is expected that discussion not only gives answer to many current questions, but also to encourage new ones, in order to improve the tourism-related theory and practice.</p> IMPORTANCE OF LOCAL RESTAURANTS GASTRONOMIC OFFER FOR THE FUTURE OF RURAL TOURISM 2022-10-23T19:42:11+02:00 Aleksandar Božić Saša Mašić <p><em>Importance of local restaurants gastronomic offer for the future of rural tourism in Knić municipality was estimated based on the questionnaire filled by 200 tourists who were acommodated in rural households in four villages (Dragušica, Žunje, Grivac and Knić) in this municipality during 2021. The questionnaire consisted of two sections: respondent profile and importance of local restaurants gastronomic offer for the future of rural tourism. Based on respondents answers, it could be concluded that local restaurants gastronomic offer is very important for the future of rural tourism, but that the offer in villages of Knić municipality is modest. Gastronomic offer of households offering accommodation is much better than local restaurant gastronomic offer. Quality, autenticity, serving and food decoration in local restaurants gastronomic offer were not estimated as good. The wellness concept in the hotel offer is known as a highly competitive tourist product, which has the capacity to attract domestic and foreign guests. Hotels in Serbia have recognized this possibility and started investing in wellness facilities and equipment, especially in spas with exceptional natural resources (thermal and mineral water, air and peloid). The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected the hotel industry, especially in cities. In response to the challenge, wellness hotels respected the measures of the RS Government and the Crisis headquarters but also changed procedures. Our research has shown that the situation regarding the implementation of anti-Covid standards in Serbia wellness hotels is satisfactory.</em></p> 2022-10-22T00:00:00+02:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## INVESTMENTS IN TOURIST DESTINATIONS FOR INCREASING EFFICIENCY IN THE FUTURE SERBIAN TOURISM SECTOR 2022-10-23T19:42:12+02:00 Aleksandra Marcikić Horvat Otilija Sedlak <p><em>The main goal of this paper is to find out a possible increase in efficiency on the basis of data from the previous period - which refers to investments in various elements of tourist destinations. In this studyit would be done by the evaluation of relative technical efficiency of tourism sector in 24 Serbian regions using data envelopment analysis (DEA). The evaluation will enable an analysis of how to influence the increase of tourism efficiency in the future, based on results from the recent past. On the side of output two variables were used in the DEA model: number of tourists and number of overnight stays. Furthermore, four input variables were used: annual average share of employment in accommodation and food service activities, annual average share of employment in arts, entertainment and recreation, investments in accommodation and food service activities and investments in arts, entertainment and recreation. Output oriented DEA model with variable return to scale has been solved and results show that relative efficiency score values are between 10% and 100%. Average efficiency score is 81%, which indicate that majority of Serbian regions obtained high efficiency score values. It will turn out that investments can be crucial for the development of tourism, but there are also barriers, limitations in this type of analysis. The indicators are related to the number of nights spent, therefore they are not directly related to the GDP, thus justifying the choice of Granger causality as method to assess the impact. The fact that most of the variables are found to be not stationary leads to the application of a special technique, adapted to the dataset and software used. The VAR models used do not pass all the specification tests, the authors have chosen a conservative approach, considering the results achieved with caution. The COVID-19 pandemic has upended the travel and tourism industries and opened many questions about the future of individuals working in the tourism industry. Traditional well-known concepts must be changed. The urban tourist of the post-covid time will probably travel in a world more digitally mediated than ever before. To stay relevant during the pandemic, business organizations had to apply digital tools. Tourism organizations did the same. Therefore, the position and perspectives of the tour guides whose role has always been an inevitable segment of the touristic offer has been called into question and is significantly threatened. The number of tourists was limited because of lockdowns, which seemingly led to disappearance of the ‘traditional’ guided group tours. This paper aims to provide the description of the position of the tour guides in the world considering the current epidemiological situation and to focus on the future trends that should be developed in this field. The paper deals with the area of Pčinja district as an area with exceptional natural and anthropogenic tourist values. However, the Pčinja district is completely marginalized in terms of tourism and out of the mass tourist flows, which is a consequence of the insufficient and outdated material basis. Therefore, the paper analyzes the material basis of the Pčinja district in order to provide a basis for further strategic planning of the tourism development. Pčinja district has great potential for the development of several forms of tourism: sports - recreational, mountain, spa, hunting and fishing, excursions, and transit ones. However, without sufficient accommodation capacities, developed tourist infrastructure and suprastructure, any tourist development is not possible, regardless of the exceptional tourist values. Rural tourism offers a unique solution that will provide jobs, consistently high incomes of the population and preserve the nature of the region intact. An analysis of the state of rural development in the Stavropol Territory showed that the region has enormous resources for rural tourism, but they are used with a low degree of efficiency. The study was completed by making proposals for the formation of the region's brand through the realization of recreational potential and the development of rural tourism. Special emphasis is placed on the current conditions in which the world economy and tourism find themselves, which are significantly determined by the spread of the COVID 19 pandemic and the digitalization of business. In such conditions, the importance of marketing information systems for adequate management of relationship marketing in tourism is increasing. Namely, successful marketing in tourism means offering greater value than the competition, as well as customer satisfaction. Satisfaction is achieved when the obtained performance of the tourist service meets or exceeds expectations. Customer expectations are formed on the basis of pre-purchase information, and commercial success is achieved when performance exceeds expectations. Marketing information systems are often used in practice in order to constantly improve the customer base. One-on-one marketing, or tailoring travel services to individual customers, depends heavily on market and timely customer information. Consequently, the manner of conducting business and providing tourist offer packages is also changing. It is obvious that in the future, tourism will rely on new technology, innovation and knowledge development, but tourism growth and development cannot be observed isolated from new financial reporting system made to meet the above stated requirements. The aim of this paper is to research new trends in financial report creation which include financial as well as non-financial information for tourism needs in the future. When learning about culture, the origin of the destination is also very important, and the story of the destination is interesting if it has the history of a given culture. This paper generates short-term indicators of the development of the municipality of Vrnjačka Banja as a spa town in the Republic of Serbia with the largest market share. Apart from the fact that tourism is characterized by a highly global character and mass, it also creates knowledge about culture by connecting diferent parts of the world. The findings indicate that the existing tourist attractiveness does not exceed the potential possibilities, and in that sense it would be necessary to develop future tourist flows for the development and valorization of cultural heritage in Vrnjacka Banja. The constitutional framework implies that the establishment of the system in various areas of the economy is in the competence of the state, while the autonomous provinces and local self-government units have certain competencies. Legal identification and standardization of administrative affairs and tasks in the field of tourism should be such that it does not endanger the freedom of private initiative, but do provide protection of the public interest. A quantitative approach was used to analyze and understand in which level internet obsession ascends, the way in which it affects all aspects of higher education students’ life and their involvement at professional hospitality and tourism workplace and the kinds of programs and policies that could be used in schools to prevent internet compulsion. As a result, to affect the quality of service and the future of tourism in Cyprus. Corresponding to the results of this research, higher education teachers encounter very often the students with internet addiction in their theoretical and practical classes and they observe several symptoms such as distraction and mental absence from class. Thus, this research shows that students’ results are very influenced by internet addiction and their level of involvement in school. The aim of the research was to determine to what extent gastronomy as a tourism product will contribute to the development of rural tourism in some future period. By researching the quality of gastronomic products in rural households, and the expectations of the hosts, it was concluded that all predictors can significantly predict the future development of rural tourism through a stronger presentation of gastronomic products in Serbia. The sample included 225 respondents. A model of higher order factor analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were used, with the introduction of a mediator variable. A literature review and field survey were conducted to assemble data on the area’s geographical position, diversity of ecosystems and species, historic heritage, and infrastructural aspects, as well as the demographic changes and employment situation of the local people. SWOT and PESTEL techniques were employed to assess the restrictions and prospects for ecotourism development in the area. The results show that the touristic potential of this area includes convenient geographical position and climate, rare wildlife, preserved ecosystems, large forest land, clean water, unique geological elements, and numerous archeological sites and historic monuments. Agrotourism is a leading opportunity for the wider inclusion of women living in rural areas. The aim of the study is to determine the effect of the position of women and the empowerment of women for stronger involvement in agritourism development, in Sirinić district, Kosovo and Metohija. Also, the aim was to determine the differences in attitudes in relation to age and material status. The results indicate the existence of significant influences for stronger engagement of women in rural areas, as well as differences in attitudes in relation to the surveyed demographic categories. Tourism is faced with challenges for future development, and they are increasingly imposed as a result of the drastic changes that have occurred due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The paper aims to assess the development and contribution of entrepreneurial activities and innovations to the business of companies, with special emphasis on their importance for the hotel industry. The Republic of Serbia has rural areas with well-preserved nature which consists of many attractive and representative elements. However, Serbia does not have a long tradition of rural tourism. The aim of this paper is to underline the potentials, limiting factors and future development effects and opportunities of rural tourism in Serbia. The methods used in processing the data collected from primary sources are correlation analysis and descriptive statistics. Tourism, as an extremely sensitive branch, is unquestionably the most affected sector. The Republic of Croatia, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, has continuously had an increase in tourist traffic in the number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays until the moment of the pandemic crisis. The aim of this paper is to consider the consequences on tourist flows on the example of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Tuzla County and the Republic of Croatia – SisakMoslavina County. In conditions of growing competition, logistics is one of the key success factors. Intensive development and competitive advantage of tourist destinations is achieved by applying the basic principles of logistics: simultaneous and comprehensive optimization of all links in the flows of materials, energy and information, which participate in shaping the supply of tourist locations and creating their tourist products. This paper describes the structure and main problems of supply chain management in tourism, their current state and factors that prevent the implementation and integration of supply chain activities within the tourism sector. Moreover, the current health crisis influenced significantly the changes in decision-making process of tourists when choosing a holiday destination and the way of organizing their journey. The purpose of this paper is to examine the relations among travel risk perception, tourist behavior during travel and the frequency of travel among Serbian residents when the individual characteristics of the respondents are controlled. Results of the empirical research indicate that tourist’s behavior during travel is positively connected with the travel risk perception. Parallel with searching for nature, tourists renew old, almost forgotten, traditional nature-inspired recipes. This study investigates tourists’ attitudes towards natural areas, interest in natural products experiences and their preference to renovate traditional healthy food products and to be included in future food tourism offers. The study includes standard and ethnobotanical interviews aimed to show the stronger connection between tourists and nature compared to the previous period and its intention to mitigate and adapt to Covid-19 challenges. The results show continuous changes in tourist perspective related to nature and natural food products in general. The paper presents an analysis of the frequency of criminal offenses related to the observed phenomenon in the period from 2016 to 2020 in the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
