RECENT DEVELOPMENT AND FUTURE TOURISM CHALLENGES AFTER COVID-19 IN NORTH MACEDONIA
Abstract
After a period of continued growth in tourist arrivals, North Macedonia has registered changes with negative reflection on the volume of tourism due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The past year has seen an increase in the volume of tourism, but it is incomparable in terms of performance from the pre-pandemic period. Tourism is faced with challenges for future development, and they are increasingly imposed as a result of the drastic changes that have occurred due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the purpose of the paper is to present the perspectives of tourism in the country with all its challenges, but having as a starting point the characteristics of recent tourism development. The research design is created to present findings related to the future tourism challenges in North Macedonia. It incorporates the application of quantitative and qualitative methods, and the regional approach is implemented in analyzing the characteristics of tourism performance.
